Photographing Hearings at the U.S. Senate

As a U.S. Senate photographer I would photograph several hearing every week that the Senate was in session. When takings these photos you have to keep in mind that many people that view your photos in publications were not there. As a photographer our job is to tell a story with pictures. Our pictures create the words. At most hearing there would be one or two photographers. We would sit in the area between the Senators and the people testifying. We had to keep alert the entire time to make sure that we would capture all important moments. Sometimes the Senators or people testifying would have signs behind them or other props. These always added to the photo giving the more interest and adding to the story.
